Growing up in a multicultural society: Opportunities and challenges

In this interactive session an expert will give a presentation after which five panelists will briefly share their ideas and experiences on growing up in a multicultural environment. They will speak about issues including:

  • what India or Surinam means to them,
  • the impact of their Indian or Surinamese-Hindustani heritage (religion,language, values) in their daily lives,
  • what is their notion of Indianness and the Indian Diaspora,
  • what is  the beneficial use of the  Indianness in the Dutch society.

We will then have a dialogue with all participants about the opportunities and challenges that the Indian and Surinamese-Hindustani youth and also their parents and elders face in the Netherlands.
