Dr. A.C. Nanhoe (Anita) At the age of three Anita Nanhoe migrated in 1975 with her family to the Netherlands.

Currently she lives in the municipality of Spijkenisse.

Nanhoe studied Developmental & Educational Psychology and Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Leiden. In April 2012 she obtained her doctorate at the Free University of Amsterdam on an investigation into the success factors in promoting the educational careers of immigrant and native scholars from lower classes in the Netherlands. In her study, Nanhoe examined what factors contributed to the upward educational mobility of 55 Moroccans, Hindustani and indigenous scholars from lower socio-economic backgrounds in the Netherlands leading to an academic qualification.

Anita Nanhoe has a wide work experience in the area of (forensic) psychiatric and mental health care, special education and various research disciplines. From 2001 she worked as a project manager, policy advisor and researcher within the municipality of Rotterdam. From 2012 she is employed as a coordinator small incidents and sexual abuse cases in the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region.

Besides her work Anita holds several board positions with non profit organizations for development work in the field of gender issues. She is also a visiting professor at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and advisor of innovative initiatives in the context of educational policy.
